Newkirk Plaza was the first open Air Mall. There has been alot written about it. I remember all the stores that were there, but only a few remain, and that is: the Barber Shop, LoDuca Pizza, The Newkirk Deli, The Newkirk Candy Shop, the pharmacy, Pablo’s, and the Diner.
Harry’s Garage is being changed to Wendy’s, and the most successful place is the Fruit and Vegetable Store, which expanded to Food Mart taking the place of Almac.
THERE IS A BIG RAT PROBLEM, AND NOW DRUG ADDICTS AND HOMELESS PEOPLE HANGOUT THERE.
Only the Flatbush Development Corporation is helping Merchants Association.
But not one politician is helping, but they will when election time comes.
According to CB 14 there is and always been a stall as far as allocation of resources because of conflict with MTA.
Oh Last, but not least-there are plenty of new pot shops.
